Orange and Black Bird

Intro:
I’ve got two birds
One is orange and black
One is blue and glass
One is orange and black
The other blue and glass

Verse 1:
A Christmas ornament to remind me what it means to me now
When times of separation and grief come around
He made the house a home, a symbol of love
Family, childhood, everything I was deprived of
A child should never have a reason to cry
But at least he was there shining in the twinkle of my eye
No it’s not perfect, but it’s not supposed to be
He may look like nothing but he’s everything to me
I glance up…

Chorus:
Then I see that orange and black bird
He’s always watching from above
Think of everything he must have heard
Looking down on our elusive love
His ratted form describes the years
Since the year 1993
He has been perched upon our Christmas tree
And must have seen
Everything

Verse 2:
A symbol of the love, family, and childhood I never had
It was like a board with knicks but taken away and shattered like glass
He was worried at breakfast that the bird would steal his food
In a week of broken promises, Sundays I looked forward to
It didn’t matter that I was lost inside
He was my map to comfort on our frog hollow drives
He’s the man someday I hope to be
It may sound like nothing but he’s everything to me
I glance up…

Chorus:
Then I see that white and blue bird
He’s always watching from above
Think of everything he must have heard
Looking down on our elusive love
His ratted form describes the years
Since the year 1993
He has been perched upon glass cabinetry
And must have seen
Everything

– BREAK–

Chorus:
I glance up and see that orange and black bird
He’s always watching from above
Think of everything he must have heard
Looking down on our elusive love
His ratted form describes the years
Since the year 1993
He has been perched upon our Christmas tree
And must have seen
Everything

Ending:
I’ve got two birds
One is orange and black
The other blue and glass
